We did several things to help resolve the issues Jeffery was having in his basement. We started with removal of all fungus & mold contaminated sub-floor insulation. The sub-floor wood components were cleaned and deodorized for wood decaying fungi and organic growth. After cleaning with a EPA registered fungicide it was completely fogged throughout the crawlspace. It kills 99.9% of mold spores and will inhibit the growth of mold and mildew.We next sprayed a Class A fire rated polyurethane closed cell spray foam. it was sprayed along the rim joist of the basement. Closed cell foam insulation fills and seal cracks, cavities and joints. We also sealed the foundation vents with poly-foam insulation from the interior of the basement. Following that we installed a 2thick Thermax rigid closed cell insulation over the foundation wall liner. It is Class A fire-rated. THERMAX is glass-fiber-infused polyisocyanurate foam core laminated between 1.0 mil smooth reflective aluminum facers on both sides. Insulation color is silver.We also put in a 15-mil white reinforced ground moisture barrier. It will control moisture vapor & dampness from the ground. Our woven liner is 100% reinforced and tough unlike competitive brand liners that are only 10% reinforced. Next we installed an Aprilaire Model E080 Energy Star rated dehumidifier it delivers 23% annual energy savings. It is a high-capacity solution designed for humidity control. It removes up to 80 pints or 10 gallons of moisture per day! It also has a five year manufacturer’s parts warranty when installed by BRS Pros. We mounted it approximately 6″ off the ground with our poly lift piers to promote circulation and prevent metal corrosion.Lastly we installed a Remote Temperature and Relative Humidity Meter. It’s a stand alone unit with one remote sensor. The wireless remote sensor was mounted in the basement. The display in the basement gives Jeffery an accurate reading of relative humidity of each space viewable at the display in basement. This product will help Jeffery monitor the effective humidity of both dehumidifiers. It was our pleasure helping Jeffery have a happy, safe and healthy home again. “
