Basement & Radon Solutions installed a Sub-Slab/Sub-Membrane Radon Mitigation System for Davis. The radon suction line proposed was installed in the crawl space and a suction point was then added in the unfinished basement. After diagnostics for system performance, a 5″ diameter hole was drilled through the concrete slab to the earth below, a suction pit was then created. A 4″ schedule 40 PVC suction line was installed in the slab and sealed, the suction line was extended to the crawl space. A radon suction line was installed on the ground in the crawl space, our 9-mil white 100% woven reinforced ground liner will cover the suction line and the earth in the crawl space. The suction line was then connected to the basement suction line and was extended to the rear exterior of the home. The radon fan was then mounted on the rear exterior of the home with the vent pipe extending to above the roofline to expel the radon gas safely. A manometer gauge (homeowner radon fan monitoring vacuum gauge) was installed on the suction line pipe in the basement for easy viewing. Varmint and rain guard PVC exhaust caps are installed on all Basement & Radon Solutions exterior radon systems that prevent rain, debris, small animals and birds from entering the vent pipe, guarding and extending the life of the radon system. If desired the exterior system can be painted in the future for added aesthetics. We also added a Radon System Alarm. Radon System Alarms are now required on all new residential radon systems. This unit is a vacuum monitoring device utilizing piezo resistive pressure sensor (PPS) technology. This alarm will provide an audible and visual indication to alert Davis when the radon system is not moving sufficient air in the event of a power loss to the system. After that we preformed a post radon mitigation test that came back at 0.8 pCi/l!
