Basement & Radon Solutions, BRS Pros, did a crawlspace repair with quite a bit of work for Colin. Here is what BRS Pros did…1. Removed all of the old sub-floor insulation from the crawlspace. Then we replaced it with a Class A Fire Rated polyurethane closed cell spray foam insulation. It prevents air infiltration (unlike fiberglass insulation) and it insulates the wood band plate (rim joist) above the masonry foundation wall. Closed cell foam insulation (moisture and air will not penetrate this product) did fill and seal cracks, cavities, and joints. Fiberglass insulation will not perform to prevent air infiltration. This product application will reduce cold spots in the floor adjacent to the main level walls of Colin’s home.2. BRS Pros installed a Pro-Series Combo Package. This package includes 2 Pro-Series Pump Systems. One pump was to replace the existing pump in the right rear corner of the crawlspace and the other pump was installed in the left rear corner of the crawlspace. The system includes 1/3 HP cast iron primary pump with dual float cages. Included is a deluxe controller that monitors pump, power conditions and sounds an alarm when problems are detected. Additionally, the pump activates weekly to exercise and extends the pumps life.3. BRS Pros encapsulated Colin’s crawlspace with a few different materials. (1) Thermax rigid insulation. This was mechanically fastened to the foundation wall and the crawlspace door to insulate the perimeter exterior walls. (2) 9-mil white 100% woven reinforced liner was installed to the foundatin walls. (3) 15-mil premium walk on/store on white 100% woven reinforced liner. This liner was installed on the floor of Colin’s crawlspace.4. BRS Pros installed an Aprilaire 1820 Dehumidifier ontop of the now encapsulated crawlspace liner. This model will remove up to 70 pints of moisture per day! Also proudly made in the USA, this dehumidifier comes with a 5 year manufacturer’s warrenty.5. Lastly, BRS Pros installed a Hyrgometer Remote Humidity Sensor. This sensor wirelessly tells Colin (from the monitor placed in Colin’s home) the temperature and humidity from the reciever in the crawlspace. It was such a pleasure to help Colin make his home happy, healthy, and safe!
